Saturday
afternoon, Paul Emerson, our super volunteer from Helotes, showed up
with a house warming present for Mama! I mean a custom-made house to
warm Mama, that is!
A few months ago, Mama stole Paul's heart when she came to our ranch.
She had been abandoned in downtown Austin and left to die. With all of
her cuts and scars it appears that she had been used as a fighting dog.
No longer able to fight because of a severe rear leg injury--she was
dumped. After her rear leg was amputated by our veterinarian, Craig
Janssen, she finally came to our ranch and stole all of our hearts!
Tony and Donnie Boner built her a beautiful pen nestled among the trees,
because she is unable to be with other dogs because she wants to fight
them. We feel that with time and a lot of work, she will be
rehabilitated and have the great life that she deserves. Hard to
believe, especially after all that she has been through--she still loves
people. She needs a very special home that is full of love. Maybe it's
you!
Paul, who comes out every weekend to help us, fell in love with her,
too. On every visit he brings her a week supply of giant, heavy-duty
rawhide bones to enjoy. But, if that wasn't enough, he decided to build
her a custom home! Modeled after 'the finest doghouses' built, it came
with a covered porch, lift up roof, and baffles to keep the cold out!
After Paul had delivered it, Mama grabbed her new rawhide bone, sat on
the porch with Tony, and then went inside. ( I guess, to decorate.) Our
ranch salutes Paul Emerson for helping out Mama and making her feel
special! Thank you, Paul, we love you!
P.S. Thanks to Jarrett Rush who helped
finance the materials for Mama's
House! Mama sends her love.
