"Good Golly Miss Molly!"
We rescued Miss Molly from the
Kerrville Pound on September 2, 1998. She was a scared and frightened
dog and didn't trust people. When we brought her to our ranch she and
Curly, a small black wannabe border collie shared Willie Nelson's dog
run together. Slowly she began to trust Tony and seemed to perk up especially
when he would visit her. Tony was special to her. Soon the two had become
best friends. We all try not to have favorites at the ranch and Tony hated
to admit it but, she was his favorite. Their was a very special bond between
them. It was love and trust.
Months and months passed and Miss Molly kept being passed up for adoption.
The would be adopters made remarks about her being too shy. She did seem
to become more shy when visitors were here. It was as though she didn't
want to leave our ranch.
In February a young woman came to the ranch and decided to adopt our
Miss Molly. We were all happy, except Tony. He worried and missed her
something awful. At least once a day after her adoption Tony would talk
about his concern for her. Well, come to find out, Tony's concern should
not have been taken lightly. Word got back to our ranch that Miss Molly
was not working out well in her new home. When Kinky found out he immediately
checked the situation out. It was true, Miss Molly was in bad hands. Tony
was so upset he was ready to drive "Trigger," (our 19 year old
pick-up) up to Austin and get her.
Within hours, our friend, Stephanie DuPont, heard about Miss Molly's
situation and took action. She found Miss Molly the most incredibly perfect
home! She called her friend, Kay, who lived in Austin. After talking with
Stephanie, Kay drove immediately over to Miss Molly's house. The woman
had no problem giving Miss Molly up to Kay. The woman told Kay that something
was wrong with Miss Molly, because every time that she would sit down,
Miss Molly would come over and sit by her. That was all Kay had to hear.
She put a leash on Miss Molly and they left.
Miss Molly is no longer in Utopia, but she's in paradise now! She lives
with Kay and her beautiful daughter Rachel. Every night she gets to sleep
in bed with Rachel and their cat. Rachel and Kay love her, but not as
much as she loves them!
This past weekend, Kay, Rachel and Miss Molly came for a visit to the
ranch. (Tony was more excited than anyone about seeing his Miss Molly.)
Seeing Miss Molly so happy made us all smile, even Tony. We all watched
as Miss Molly followed Rachel all over the ranch and would never leave
Rachel's side. It was obvious to all of us that Miss Molly had finally
found her angels and that Kay and Rachel had found theirs.
Seeing Miss Molly, Rachel and Kay so happy and remembering the many other
dogs that we have placed in great homes makes what we do, worth it. Thank
you Kay and Rachel.
Also, thank you Stephanie for helping Miss Molly. Your an angel too!
Sincerely,
Nancy Parker-Simons
Utopia Animal Rescue Ranch
has many great friends and Shaw McMahon is one of them! He and his sister,
Corrie, and brother, Bowman, come over weekly to visit our dogs. Our dogs
love them and can't get enough of their attention. On Shaw's last visit he
gave us this beautiful drawing that he drew of our animals! Here are a few
more of Shaw's drawings.
"Thank
You very much!....No. Thank you Very Much, Kinky!" The conversation went
back and forth like this between Larry Harris and Kinky for a while
outside the trailer after
Cherie had picked Bear and Joy for adoption. Larry drove Cherie all the way from Colorado! The
good news is they told us they would be coming back for more!
(Kinky and Nancy both teared up a little, but they do that every
time one of the animals leaves. They are both fine now.)

Kacey
Jones, a well known Nashville artist and record producer, took
time off from her busy schedule to fly all the way from Nashville,
Tenn. to adopt one of our dogs! She and Gus pictured above hit
it off immediately. Kacey wanted to adopt all of them and then
she narrowed it down to Gus or Peanut. Peanut won on this adoption
but, we are pretty sure she will be back for Gus very soon. See
you soon Kacey!

Dear Kinky,
So now I have a pen named after me at The Utopia Rescue Ranch,
which I read about in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram! I really
am flattered and will try to stop by and see those canines for
myself.
Hope all goes well.....*The
