On April 26, 2001, at 7p.m. in San Antonio, Texas,
Robert Earl Keen
and his lovely wife, Kathleen, threw a huge 'bone' to our dogs
at Niles Wine Bar! They invited over one-hundred and fifty friends
and guests for a private, outdoor, acoustic performance by Robert
Earl Keen to help benefit our rescue ranch. Throughout the concert.
all of the guests donated generously to our animals. The animals
and everyone at the ranch cannot thank Robert Earl and Kathleen
Keen and Niles Chumney, owner of Niles Wine Bar, enough for
all of their help and support.
Kinky was the Master of Ceremonies and he did a reading from
his story, in the May issue of Texas Monthly, about him living
with four dogs and a cat which left everyone howling. Following
Kinky, Robert Earl Keen got up on stage and thrilled the guests
with his unique and incredible music. He received two standing
ovations and everyone just kept begging him for one more song
and he
graciously gave them what they wanted. And of course, Robert
Earl performed, "The Road Goes on Forever," Feeling
Good Again," "Copenhagen" and the crowd's many
other favorites. His concert lasted for over three hours! It
was what we would call, a "magical Texas evening."
Our ranch wishes to thank these fine Texans, Robert Earl, Kathleen
and Niles by making them 'Official Ranch Hands! Yee Haw, We
Love Y'all!
