Gary P. Nunnofficial, Ranch Hand!
Gary P. Nunn is now an official, Ranch Hand! Sunday, July 2nd, Gary P. drove two hours out of his way between gigs to help out our dogs. When he had arrived in Utopia, he had lost his directions to the ranch and one of our volunteers, Lindy Padgett, found him in town at Heaven's Landing, asking for directions to the ranch. Gary then followed Lindy In his white pickup truck out to our ranch. A big crowd had already assembled at the ranch and when he arrived here the crowd could hardly wait to meet and greet him. Kinky quickly introduced Gary to everyone and then Gary did what he does best. He sat down, got out his guitar and started singing. First he sang my favorite Gary P. song "What I Like About Texas." He got a standing ovation and even our dogs started barking when everyone started clapping. The dogs barked every time that we started clapping. Gary then played, 'The Domino Song," "Gracias Por Esse,", "Uncle Bud," and many others. When it was time for Gary P. to leave the ranch, Kinky gave him a tour of the ranch. As a thank you to Gary, Kinky told him that he could adopt any dog that he wanted, but Gary graciously refused his offer and then had everyone laughing as he told us about his ranch and all of their animals. Gary and his wife Ruthie have guineas, chickens, horses, cows, ducks, donkeys, goats, sheep, cats and dogs. He said, "Our motto at our ranch is, 'We feed 'em and don't eat 'em." Everyone at the ranch really enjoyed his visit, especially the four people who drove up from Houston (five hours away) and adopted one of our super dogs, Tacy. The ranch cannot thank Gary P. Nunn enough for taking the time to come down and help us help the animals. We love you, Gary!
